Welcome to the OHTANI Laboratory -Earth and Planetary Material Physics
Research Group, Tohoku University.
We investigate the internal structure, origin, and evolution of the Earth
and planets based on the experimental and theoretical research on Earth
and planetary materials. Our research covers the fields of experimental
petrology and mineral physics, and our aim is to clarify the macroscopic
view of the earth's and planetary phenomena based on the microscopic properties
of the Earth and planetary materials.
東北大学地球惑星物性学分野のホームページにようこそ。
地球惑星物性学分野では、地球や惑星を構成する物質の構造・物性を実験的に調べることにより、地球や惑星の内部を明らかにする研究をしています。この分野のカバーする領域は、いわゆる実験岩石学と
鉱物物理学と呼ばれている学問です。特徴は鉱物や岩石のミクロな性質を実験に基づいて解明すること、またその結果をマクロな対象である地球・惑星の現象に適用することです。
私たちはこの実験室で得られた成果をもとに、地表から観察できることだけでなく、地球や惑星の見えない内部構造や、何十億年に及ぶ形成史を総合的に理解することを特に重要なことであると考えています。
